Kensington Tours adds two new tours in Bolivia

Kensington Tours has created two brand new itineraries in Bolivia, a destination rarely offered by global tour operators.

The new itineraries, Bolivia Explorer and Peru and Bolivia Highlights, include experiences that take travellers to some of the country's most famous attractions, like the salt flats, the capital city of La Paz, a hike through the Valley of the Moon (an eroded mountain range), and a walk through the ruins of ancient Tiwanaku. 

"In contrast to Peru (our best-selling country in Latin America), Bolivia’s tourism industry is early in its development and has an undiscovered quality to it that few places still do," Kensington Tours’ director of product, Kelly Torrens, told PAX. "We have seen an increase in organic demand for Bolivia over the past few years that has inspired our recent product development."

Itinerary overviews

According to Torrens, travel agents should suggest the new Bolivia tours to well-travelled clients who possess a strong interest in stunning landscapes and indigenous culture.

"Photographers also particularly love visiting the salt flats in shoulder season (April or November) when they can capture images that play with both perspective and reflection," Torrens explained. "If a client has yet to visit Peru and would like to spend two weeks in South America, the combination with Bolivia allows them to see some of the continent's most iconic highlights (like Machu Picchu) while finishing with a much-less-visited but no less impressive landscape in Bolivia."

On Bolivia Explorer, guests will visit La Paz, Sucre, Colchani, and Ojo de Perdiz. The trip is nine days long, and starts at $4,293 per person, with the journey beginning and ending in La Paz.

On Peru and Bolivia Highlights, guests get to enjoy the best of both countries, making stops in Peru (Lima, Sacred Valley, Aguas Calientes, Cusco, Puno) and Bolivia (La Paz, Colchani).

The longer of the two itineraries, Peru and Bolivia Highlights runs for 16 days, and starts at $9,728 per person.

For clients looking to visit Peru in combination with Bolivia, there are direct flights from Toronto and Montreal to Lima on Air Canada Rouge. To connect into La Paz directly, the best connections are via Lima or Bogota (Colombia) with Avianca or LATAM.

Clients from Western Canada typically find it easiest to begin their trip in Peru (in Lima) via DFW and then return from Santiago (Chile) after transiting through Bolivia and the Atacama Desert.
