All 7 of Iglu-Dorf's igloo villages to open by Dec. 31

Beloved snow village, Igloo Village in Zermatt will be opening on Dec. 14.

The Stockhorn opening will follow on Dec. 20. By the end of the year, all seven Igloo Villages will be in operation – always assuming that Old Mother Frost Frau plays along. This winter, every Igloo Village offers special experiences in the snow – for guests who enjoy being active outdoors and are keen on trying out something new.

Snow signals time to build

The Igloo Villages in Zermatt and on the Stockhorn will be the first to welcome their guests, followed by the Igloo Village on the Schilthorn and in Gstaad, which has just welcomed a brand new cable car. By Dec. 28. all the Winter Palaces in Switzerland, Germany – and this year for the first time in Austria – will hopefully be opened and the decoration finished. For the snow and ice artists, the realisation of the theme worlds represents a particular challenge, since snow art is unique.

Extra snow experiences

This winter, every Igloo Village will be offering exciting outdoor experiences, tailored both to large and small groups. In Davos, the guests are “trained” to be snow artists; in Gstaad, snowblowing is on the programme, while in Zermatt and Kühtai you can become a master igloo builder! On the Schilthorn, the Evening Thrillwalk offers thrills galore, while on the Stockhorn Winter Games and the Zugspitze Igloo Championships will be organised. For details see www.iglu-dorf.com.

Fondue evenings for everybody

In addition, the Igloo Villages are offering fondue evenings for all snow lovers on set dates. This also includes those who although fancying the igloo feeling, are not yet (fully!) prepared for a night in an igloo. A comfortable evening cable car ride up to the igloo, enjoying a fondue and after the piste is closed taking a pleasant stroll through the crispy, crackling snow to the cable-car station and returning by gondola to the valley below.
