The Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which manages Toronto Pearson (YYZ), has introduced a “Satellite Primary Inspection Line” (SPIL) at Terminal 3.
The facility is designed to ensure that connecting passengers have a smoother transition to their next flight, according to a notice posted the airport’s website.
Travellers arriving at Toronto Pearson who are proceeding to catch domestic flights can now enjoy an easy pathway between international and domestic connections by passing through a new dedicated customs area, exclusive to connecting passengers, that allows them to stay on the secure side of the airport.
Previously, connecting passengers would have to exit the terminal and re-join the security line.
The new facility is equipped with Primary Inspection Kiosk machines, Canadian Air Transport Security Agency lanes, and Canada Border Services Agency booths, a family washroom, a waiting area, and operational support representatives to guide passengers.
Overall, the area aims to “significantly reduce connection time, giving connecting travellers the flexibility to explore shops and lounge services at the terminal, “enhancing the overall experience,” the GTAA says.
